Site Tools
The Tools are organized in alphabetical order with their service contribution in parenthesis.
1&1 Internet (domain registration and web hosting)
I registered my domain name through 1&1. I have renewed my registration for the second year through them. To my knowledge, 1&1 is among the most cost-efficient domain registration and hosting services. I have completed the transfer for indrayudha.net hosting from Indiana University server to 1&1′s in April 2006.
Bravenet (e-mail form)
Bravenet provides only e-mail form this time for v2. However, almost all of its tools I used for v1 are still available in my personal blog. Bravenet still function as a one-stop-shopping for all your general design needs. So even with only this one Tool, you can still create a good-looking site.
Chank Fonts (fonts)
The font I used for indrayudha.net logo this time is Fresh, one of the many free fonts provided by Chank Company. I also use it for page heading by turning it into graphic replacement. There are more cool fonts on the website, which I probably use for the next indrayudha.net installment.
ClockLink (online clock)
The clock provided by ClockLink made it possible for me to add a nice-looking digital clock on the index page without adding Javascript code on my own. It is also portable and easy to update, which will free my time to focus on other areas of the website. I also use the clock to let visitors know in what city I currently located at.
Creative Commons (copyright licenses)
I use Creative Commons license for v2.0 copyright, and virtually all my blogs. CC license benefits from its standardized legalities and recognitions. It is possible for me now to modify copyright terms for my different works in a timely manner and a cost-efficient way without being bungled in legal jargons.
ELATED (web graphics and web elements)
The inspiration of v2.0 comes from an ELATED's free template, Hang A Right. I took some of the main graphic elements (arrow and color-scheme) and modified them to fit the overall v2.0 design. I also converted the table layout into a tableless one by slicing the graphics and removing some unnecessary parts.
FavIcon from Pics (favicon)
It is easy to create favicons with this tool. All you have to do is upload a picture (preferably square shaped), and it will generate the favicon for you. Follow the simple direction, and voila, your own favicon embedded in your site viewable through the browser's address window.
Feedburner (blog feeds)
FeedBurner enables me to greatly simplify the syndication and publicity for my personal blogs. I use the Headline Animators on the front page to inform visitors of my five most recent postings on my three separate blogs. I also use Feedburner for syndication exclusively, eliminating separate standards for my blog syndications.
Larabie Fonts (fonts)
I used Yytrium Dioxide to create a subtle "Yoga Prakasa" image for navigation bar, just like v1.0 banner. All of the non-standard fonts I used in v1.0 were taken from Larabie. There are still enough distinct fonts there of which I can use on v2.0 exclusively, but I decided to divide the source instead.
Squidfingers (background pattern)
A personal website of Travis Beckham. He made some of the most attractive background patterns for designing websites. I use pattern 36 as the background of v2. Because of the way I designed v2, the background is only visible on a screen with resolution larger than 800 pixels.
